The Observer
Midway upon my life’s journey
I entered a Pub,
Within the Southern end of London
And sat next to a man
Who ate nothing with his mouth
But he ate and drank with his hands
And when I had sat
With my mead and asked him
“Oh great lord who eats with his hands
Could you tell me of your life
As you seem to have
A story to tell?”
“I do have a story,
Many to be exact.
As I have been here for billions of years
I was sent here by my comrades,
Who are like me composed of nanorobots
And a head that has our AI
I have seen all those things
Described by the Immortal.
And I have seen more
I saw the rise
Of humanity
And I saw so much more
I’ve seen the very start of Earth
I was there Earth was struck
With the Protoplanet Theia
I saw the first appearance of Water
I saw the first living cells
But they all went extinct
I saw the first Prokaryotes
Those without Nuclei
I saw the last Universal Terrestrial Common Ancestor
I saw the first photosynthesizers
I saw the first organisms on land
But they all went extinct
I saw the explosion of oxygen
I saw the evolution Eukaryotes
I saw the development of sexual reproduction
I saw the many lifeforms of the Cambrian Explosion
And I saw the first ancestors of Seaspunges, Bugs, and Anemones
But they all went extinct
I saw the start of the cambrian
I saw the first vertebrates
I was with the first animal to leave tracks on lans
I saw the first jellyfish
I saw the Acanthostega
But they all went extinct
I saw the era of jungle
I saw those massive insects
I saw the rise of one of the few plants to have not gone extinct, the ferns
I saw the first octopi
And I saw the first beatles
But they all went extinct
I saw the rise of the Dinosaurs
I saw the first armour in Dinosaurs
I saw the first Pterosaurs
I saw the first stegosaurus
And I saw that tyrant lizard, Tyrannosaurus rex
But they all went extinct
I saw the rise of mammals
I saw primates rise
I saw homo-erectus dominate the world for Meganuums
I saw Neaderthals rise
I saw homosapiens genocide them all.
But they all went extinct
All others went extinct
And though I have hopes for your species
All the others went extinct
And so do will yours
But you may be able to ,leave your mark
If your people Expand to space and encounter my people.”
And I sat there
In shock
Contemplating my life’s choices.
